Big advertising costs big money
If you want to save money, avoid companies who spend millions on television ads, hundreds of thousands on radio, or even tens of thousands on large yellow Pages advertising. All that money has to come from somewhere, and it comes from you paying higher prices for funerals.
You should not be paying up to a thousand dollars more for a company that is always late because their cost minimization culture means they don’t roster enough staff, and are so impersonal that they greet you at the church with a clipboard and the comment “It’s 11 o’clock so you must be Mrs. Jones?”
Frankly, you will usually get a better price with the smaller companies that provide good personal service and rely on word of mouth from satisfied customers, than from the large conglomerations that have to spend huge amounts on trying to buy the high recognition their overstretched services often don’t deserve.
