What is the difference between a coffin and a casket?

There are 3 main differences between a coffin and a casket:

  1. A coffin has 6 sides while a casket has 4

  2. A coffin is wider at the shoulders and tapers to the feet while a casket is a standard rectangle

  3. The lid of a coffin comes completely off while a casket has a hinged lid (though this is not always the case depending on your choice)

Most of our coffins are made by the Minter Family in Oakley from sustainably sourced wood, harvested at pine plantation in the Dandenongs which they’ve maintained for over 70 years.

    Craftwood with high gloss Sapele finish, substantial combustible handles (Suitable for church or graveside carry) and white cotton lining.

    Craftwood, single raised lid with Oak veneer, combustible handles and embossed cotton lining.

    100% Felted Australian Wool formed around a recycled cardboard frame with a calico lining and wool mattress.
